I am SOOOO excited to be able to share what our "Life Transformation Group" has been doing.

As an Empowerment Specialist, one of the things I have to work on quite often is weight loss with my pageant clients and followers.  So as you know I recently started my own Life Transformation, in an effort to "lead by example!"

And, I invited anyone who was serious about changing their life to join me on this journey.  I've had several people join us and I wanted to provide a place where we could share and celebrate our successes.

If anyone wants to join us on this journey, just let me know and we'll get you hooked up with our Transformation Coach.

I want to kick of the group by sharing my immediate ...

It's WOW Wednesday again --- (Way Of Winners) --- time to showcase another winner!

On a recent flight home, I had the pleasure of meeting a young woman who was actually sitting in front of me evesdropping on my conversation with someone else -- LOL!

Once we landed, she stood up, turned around and introduced herself by saying..."when your book comes out, I want a copy!"

This past week we were able to hook up again and I learned about her goals and dreams.  I was so impressed that I just had to make her this week's WOW Wednesday Feature.

Her name is Yasmine Ortiz, and her dream and passion is to launch the "REIN Leadership Program."

The REIN program is designed to create servant leaders by teaching ...

As noted by the title, every Friday I will share valuable information, tips, tricks, techniques and suggestions on how to change and empower your finances.  I know, I know..."Money ain't everything!"  Well in the words of Rita Davenport, "It's right up there with air!"

Let's face it, you simply can not survive in the world today if you aren't financially secure.  My Friday posts won't be about being "Stinkin' Filthy Rich" -- they will be about being "Stinkin Filthy Secure!"

How do you become financially secure when you have month left over at the end of your money, you're already working two jobs, and/or you don't have the money or knowledge to start ...

WHOSE LINE IS IT ANYWAY?

Communication Issues, Skills and Techniques

AUTHOR:  Marie Davis, IDG Trainer/Speaker

Over the last two weeks, we’ve looked at the first three journalism questions.  Today, we’re going to look at the “where” and “how” aspects.

Where?

  • Where does the reader do his work?
Is the reader sitting at a desk, working at a machine, standing on a shop floor, walking around the office or out on the road?
  • Where are they located in the hierarchy of the company?
People in the higher echelons of the company may not want all the detail a person at a lower level might want.  They tend to be “big ...

WHOSE LINE IS IT ANYWAY?

Communication Issues, Skills and Techniques

Last week, we looked at the “Who” question.  This week, I’m going to provide questions to help you answer the “what” and “when” aspects.

What?

  • What does the reader need to know?
  • What does the reader already know?
  • What else does the reader want to know?
This often speaks to the reader’s personality style.  Using the four “standard” styles, there are two that really don’t want the details; there is one that absolutely wants every detail you could imagine (and then some); and ...

Who’s Your Reader?, Part 1

The six journalism questions – the questions every good reporter is taught to answer in a story – will give you great deal of information about your reader and help you position your document, whether it’s an email, a letter, a report, a proposal or just a quick note.

The six questions are:

  • Who?
  • What?
  • When?
  • Where?
  • How?
  • Why?

In this article, I’m going to give you some things to consider to help you answer the “who” question.

Who?  Who is the reader?

Knowing the person ...

WHOSE LINE IS IT ANYWAY?

Communication Issues, Skills and Techniques

AUTHOR:  Marie Davis, IDG Trainer/Speaker

There are a number of tools and techniques you can use to persuade your reader.  The most important is to ask yourself “What would I think/feel/perceive if I read this message not knowing my point of view?

In my classes, I use this example:

If you wrote my company asking for a refund, which of these two responses from me would you like better?

a.     We require that you come into the store with a valid, signed sales receipt before we can process a refund.

WHOSE LINE IS IT ANYWAY?

Communication Issues, Skills and Techniques

AUTHOR:  Marie Davis, IDG Trainer/Speaker

In my writing classes, I’m often asked, “What’s the most important thing to remember when writing to someone?”  Always, always, always remember the most important thing you can do is ask, “How is my reader going to receive it?”

Have you ever sent an email and inadvertently started an email war?  When people read something, they do it through the filters of their background, experience, and current mood.  While we don’t know their current mood, we can prepare for their background and experience.

While we...
